Katy Perry has a new music video which was filmed in Six Flags Magic Mountain, but also includes:
Love themed Full Throttle with derailing non inverting loop
Incredible Hulk from Islands of Adventure
    RCTW shots
40 Superman: Escape from Krypton's derailing
An outdoor theater inside Twisted Colossus
    What even...
EDIT: BossAct7 also pointed out Full Throttle has an emoji tunnel (with hearts too, I guess)
  1.
^the redeeming factor is that the TC trains could look amazing with lights on at night.

I can't believe I just watched a Katy Perry video to tell you that, wtf.

Can that weird star flyer swing ride with the houses be made in NL2? I would put that in Jamp Up Land for sure!!

Nah I don't see any RCTW shots, only poorly made 3D renditions of coasters.

But on the plus side, Katy Perry did rode, and shot inside Full Throttle and not against a green screen, so props for that.

That ride that flings those riders out looks like something out of the Centrifuge Brain Project.

That music video and the nature of the rides reminds me of (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_4TTRfXkgk) this gem back in 2002, god I still wish the ride at 1:30 became reality. Maybe one day *fingers crossed*

Idk man, the girls I meet are typically pretty interested in talking about roller coasters.

Either that or they're good at acting. I'm happy regardless

I don't quite know why, but this picture of Big Dipper at Geauga Lake looks like a scale model to me:

Yeah capacity was about 2 people per day, but that's actually pretty cool. I could see it working like a skycoaster and being popular enough.

Looks like China still hasn't learnt what banking is

Looks like they still haven't learnt to use good colour schemes either. It looks like it's themed to McDonald's or something.

I love the discarded paint cans on the floor on the first image. Very professional. Admittedly the colour scheme is very "Mcdonalds" but it's also similar to Hair Raiser (a personal favorite of mine).

This coaster is so wrong... Although there's something I quite like about its first drop (minus the non-existent banking):

^ Indeed, both are horizontal magnetic brakes. I like the sleek and discrete design.

Speaking of magnetic brakes, today I discovered Prexco, which is manufacturing brakes for Moser free-falls, Pinfari coasters and Technical Park Loop Fighter.
They have a cool .pdf with their references, and a neat diagram showing speed, g-forces and jerks on a 68m tall free-fall tower:

But more interesting than magnetic brakes, Prexco actually developed a new launch system. You knew the LIM... You knew the LSM... Here comes the LEM! That stands for Linear Eddy-current Motor.

The principle is very straightforward : it's like a tire booster, but instead of a tire it's a magnetic fin shaped as a disk.

    First tests

    Alternative version with horizontal disks

And now, the really funky prototype! What's up with the weird third-track system... Haha.

Here's the .pdf detailing the LEM, but you can also visit their website Megamag for even more content such as videos, technical drawings and FAQ. There we can read:

Posted By: LEM The number of disk units, their dimensions and the power of the electric motors is calculated for each installation. To give an example, a car weighing 4000 lbs may be launched at a speed of 60 ft/sec with an acceleration of 1.6g by a stack of 45 disk units; each unit comprises a flywheel weighing 200 lbs, a disk 16" in diameter and a standard electric motor with a power between 1.1 and 2.2 kW and turning between 1500 and 3000 rpm (only motor's power and speed varies from disk to disk); the total power consumption will be of the order of 60 kW for launching a car every 30 seconds. Of course less demanding applications may require less disk units and other dimensions for the disk, the flywheels and the motors.

So that's pretty weak actually. Heck, they even say "the efficiency is relatively low, due to the difference in speed between the driving disk and the conducted car".

    -

Now you might think you already saw that somewhere... Indeed, it made its way on a manufactured coaster, which is the Drifter by I.E.Park. Ol'misery even made a NoLimits recreation of that one!
