    So who wants to make this into a track for a coaster? design comes from a patent from Schwarzkopf for what appeared to look like the bayern kurve design. Though I couldn't find any pictures that proved he ever used this for one. Track would look pretty cool if made.

    ^Yeah I'm thinking just the same, I'm not sure if there's a tie or not but coming from that one patent it seemed like there wasn't which is pretty strange.

    ^^CCI is looking good. I might be wrong, but it seems like the banking starts too fast at the top of the lift. I might need to see real examples of similar styled designs.
    ^ without a spine though? Supports would probably have to resemble a wooden coaster in that case.

    I spent some hours today doing all the major support work for my wing coaster. Most of pics will be in my thread, but here's some just to gander quickly at.

    I was lucky enough in 2012 to get an extended look at a Bayern Kurve and got some close-up shots. The track doesn't look like the one on the patent, so I guess this one has never been manufactured (Bayern Kurve v2?).

    So I'm not terribly experienced with GG design. Haven't been on any besides Hades 360. I'm trying to design one now with one conceptual aspect which is a 180* roll drop. I need feedback on the remainder of the layout. I was told by a friend that the two large air-hills seemed a bit too RMCish.

    Been working on an RMC but I can't decide how I want to do the foliage. Opinions?





    The pines and firs are killing the FPS more than the other trees but I don't know which I like better

    take a look at firefall, there's a couple key things going on there

    first i would say change the ground texture in the wood itself, make it like a leaf texture since grass doesn't usually grow under a heavy canopy. putting just a dirt texture in around the ride itself occasionally also helps some ground variation also try to mess witht the textures and particularly the brightness so one of them doesn't stand out more than the others (a little brightness change can go a long way)
    next would be your arrangement and saturation in different areas. immediately next to the track where you have the chance to look under bulk of the leaves, you should have a higher concentration of denser trees, so that the rest of the forest is left unseen for the most part. the bulk of the forest should be made up of a mid height but widespread tree that can hide the ground even more(elm i think?) , with some color and height variation from the taller pine
    colors should be varied a little, but having purple trees in a mostly green forest doesn't make much sense and they take most of the attention away, I would just use a darker/lighter green. (photoshopping textures is a good thing to know, even if its just color changes)
    and finally, after you get a certain distance away, switch to 2d trees entirely so that the park can run at a decent framerate
    oh and maybe throw in a rock/boulder ever so often since it its on a cliff and there tend to be boulders near cliffs

    hopefully that helps, foliage is a bit of an overseen thing sometimes, and getting it right can have huge benefits.

    If you want this design to be a classically-built woodie, it is FAR too intense. As for the airtime, you want to almost always shoot for floater air, maybe thrown in some mild ejector here and there. There was a large ground-level high G turn after going over the station... you will never see elements like that on wooden coasters. I could feel my spine deteriorating just watching it haha.

    I think you executed the drop pretty well, though.

    Thanks for feedback, I'll try again at a new layout later. I haven't done a woodie in a long time and it shows :P

    I'd agree with Intim there. Around the immediate area of the ride, use the nice 3d trees. But further away in areas you don't/can't see from the ride, or won't see at all but still needs something to fill space, use the low poly 2d trees of the same type as the 3d ones you've used (pines and firs). Background/filler trees. That way it still looks decent from a distance, but only has the better looking 3d trees where they're needed. That should help keep your FPS happy.

    I think the thing I find most unexpected is that your work space is clutter free. After seeing those crazy cramped coasters in Jamp Up Land I would of expected something totally different.

    Just had an idea.. If possible, change the sword to a battle axe swinging back and forth above the.. uh.. track? canal? log flume water trench thing.. i give up. You know what i mean, hahaha.
    But yeah, swinging double sided axe like in those old movies where the hero is tied to a table or a slab of stone and has to escape before it kills him.

    WHOA!!! That was perfectly done!! If new Hurler turns out anything like this I'll be a very happy person!! Looks amazing, and the track work was so smooth. Great job!!
