    Hi all,

    Let me introduce myself here.
I'm Daniel and I live in the Netherlands.
I'm past days approached by an interested who led surcharge to build the design of Efteling with the the Flying Dutchman.
This I therefore started and has therefore priority.
Of course I will also post screenshots of the project implementation attempt to mimic any contours.
After being in the Efteling and have to view many photos I started the project.
Total will be used more than 100 textures here and there will also be in NL2 be possible to walk IN the buildings.
You understand that this will be a huge project that hours / weeks / months required.
The plans are ready and this week has already made a start with the basic model.
It will all be simulated to scale both the outside plaza and everything inside + Onride.
This person has no hurry, so I can calm you step by step to show everything.

In this follow two pictures of the beginning of construction of the tower.
    First created separate windows.
After the tower was built, the windows are installed.
The towers that insists probably be replaced.
These are temporarily applied so that it looks better.
    Thank sorry for my English.

Hi, you were already on the forums right?

Good luck with this major project, i know how detailed De Vliegende Hollander is, so I'm curious about how detailed the end result is going to be.
If you need a bit help, I might can help you with some things.

    Yes that's right.
Thank you! if i need help i let you know :)

Now i'm working with the textures to make it better.
Also i start working to make the planks at the top of the tower.
Here is a screenshot of the Original:

  1.
I love the details of the Vliegende Hollander! But I really don't love the lift hill. It hurts in my back when you are going up to the lift hill and then stops. But it still is a perfect ride!

Are you also going to put in all the effects of the ride like the 3D flying ship in the water drops? And the rain plus the machine that makes it rain and thunder?

Sorry for this but I really like to see all (then I mean ALL the details) in the model.
    But it seems nearly impossible.
    Good Luck! ;)

Looks nice for the begin. I think most of the details are possible, but you need lots of high detailed textures to manage it. I also managed lots of details on my Talocan object with Alpha textures

True, the lift hill is a rough version.
I first wanted a little the contours and dimensions have good with a tan before I bring to it all the details.
Believe me, it's getting a lot better haha
I do not know if Sketchup 2014 or Nolimits2 graphical effects or "videos allow into the game.
I hope the rain and thunder in the game can bring, but I do not know how.

    Thank you Pearman :)
Indeed, i used textures more then 1024x1024.
But...it needs lot's more memory and graphics from a graphics card.
My card is a Nvidia Geforce 770GTX, so that's okay.
But if i upload this for other people maybe it's laggy because the high textures.

    I have a problem.
If I change one object to another place and then opject of place goes along the surface.
Someone who knows how to fix it?
If I make it as a component it is going well, but that is not the intention.
    Here are two photos:

  2.
I don't really know how to fix that.

But with a bit of scripting so should it be possible to make the effects (I think).

Here is the first IN-GAME tower :D
You see the tower is not finished, and missing lots of parts and textures.
But, for the first time i am really suprised about the quality!

  3.
I really like it so far. And it seems promising! Keep up the work!

    Thank you JL!

    @Pearman: i don't know how i can do that, so i think i used standard boats/cars.

can't you ask help? I would like to help but can't make so much details yet. And I can't script.

    Yes maybe.
The car is for later :)
I have my fully focus to make the scenery and at the middlepoint the tower :)

Hey, this looks very nice. But you should extrude the planks, so that they get 3d. It's better if you want to add someting on the inside.

    Tnx.
Now i have editted further and are now 'real planks'

But, i want to get a diagonal plank on the top of the gray planks but i can't figur it out how i can do that.
  5.
Make a plank, make it into a component, put it where it needs to go, rotate to the correct angle.

Make the plank on its own in an area of the workspace separate from the rest of the model, texture it, group it, and use the move/rotate tools to position it where you want.

It is much better to build models like this out of lots of grouped geometry than as one big mess of attached polygons.

Edit: Beaten by 22 seconds by DC :P

Well. the difference between your version and the real is very big.
Yours have a much bigger angle.

I tried it, but when i connect is and place it on the right place it 'snaps' to the surface:

I already told this 21 hours ago.
Anyone have a solution for this?

just make a square with x cm by x cm and draw the diagonal line. From there you can create a 45° rotated plank, because sketchup also shows a right angle with pink coloured lines

Looks good so far, and a very wonderfully ambitious project, but I can't help but think that some of your textures are spread a bit poorly, such as the wood texture by the lift hill. Also, some textures look slightly off color, 30 seconds with GIMP would actually fix this.
Last for criticism, some of the parts look a little off. I'm noticing some details you are missing. They should be easy with the arch tool, extrude faces tool, and follow me tool. ;)
These are simply nitpicking ideas, I still definitely love what I'm seeing, and can't wait till further results!
  6.
About the lift hill its a big place to fill with textures.
If I enlarge the textures the planks are very big and on realistic.
    Today I try gimp.
Most of the time the tools are not working because the faces snaps to other faces.
If I make a group I cant edit it also with double click.
I need to explode it before I can edit soms parts.

I think this looks better :)

I think atm the textures are good. They could be better, but if the model is spectacular, the textures are not that important.
  7.
    Tnx.
I have from Google a seamless wood texture.
I have import it in GIMP and add some filters.
How can i make the textures better?

Sry, but I'm not very skilled in using GIMP :D
  8.
Me neither, I use more Adobe Photoshop CS5 :)
  9.
I have just started using gimp. And I don't get a shit!
  10.
Google some better free textures, there are plenty out there. That wood in particular (the interior and large exterior beam with the red tint) is not a good texture. I disagree with Pearman, textures are VERY important when modeling. They can make a huge difference.
  11.
Wich large Brown wood seamless texture are you suggest me?
I have see lot's of wood textures, but these are the best I found that looks like the original.
  12.
have you already checked out cgtextures.com?
  13.
    Ah thank you.
Some textures are very nice and clear :)
  14.
Filterforge.com is even better, it has thousands of seamless textures.
  15.
    Thank you!
    I have found a texture:
    https://filterforge.com/filters/11289-v4.html
But i didn't see how i can import it to Filter Forge
  16.
You don't need to import it into Filter Forge, just save the image by right clicking.
  17.
    Done :)
    This is the result.

    I don't know, but it's not realistic.
  18.
Now i have put it in NL2, but everything is very dark.
The sun is on the right place, so the tower on this side must bright up.

^Or just check "fix ambient faces" in the NL2 scene object creation settings.
  19.
@nolimiters: If i export it to .dae it has no textures, only white.

@Bolt: i Always set it on 'fix ambient' :)
  20.
The textures will be white with dae export if you put a space in the name, if you want to see textures, name it something like my_model.dae
  21.
    Thank you very much CodeMaster!!!
It works and it's brighter now :D

Now the last thing is change the rock wall textures, so you can not see the squares on the wall anymore.

Looks realy nice. Your maodel amkes fast progress. I think the new (old) texture is a bit better for the old building from the flying dutchman.
PS: Is there a small lion on your model, right under the tunnel up to the tower? :D
