Hello all! Welcome to my newest creation... which is yet to be named... oh well. Here goes!

My idea was inspired by the "Planning for future fun" signs appearing in a certain area of Drayton Manor recently. I took this as a challenge to design something compact yet thrilling, something that would fit the park's collection nicely. Of course, an RMC is a highly unlikely choice considering Drayton is a small family owned park, but I tried my hand at fitting a crazy contraption in this smallish area. I began my creating my template - where the new ride will be placed, in a triangular shaped field next to the Buffalo Coaster which is currently fenced off. Here is said area:

As I said before, the size of the site is not huge for a coaster. I looked for inspiration, which I found in Medusa - small, but exciting. After about a full day of work, I completed a layout I was happy with - surprisingly there were only a few minor tweaks I made despite it being a quick layout. Anyway, less talking, here's some editor pictures to display the coaster.

Of course, simple grid views don't show a lot, especially considering they're hard to decipher at times, including this one! Here's a more in-depth view of the layout.

The ride begins with a quick climb to 102ft above ground level, before dropping into a left turn and into our first inversion - a Zero-G roll into the first drop.

    https://gyazo.com/28f12f2c420332dda5b74a9eb88b898a

After reaching a top speed of 48mph at the bottom of the drop, the train carees upwards into a U-Turn - similar to Medusa's.

    https://gyazo.com/1e1c18b58f00ffbf2abea26e9c18bb82

Out of this element, you're already soaring into the ride's second inversion - another Zero-G roll that you fly through at speeds of 30mph.

    https://gyazo.com/23967f0a17c21f65b5cb92b2cc4d09ef

You barely have time to catch your breath before you dive into an overbank that sends you sprawling over the course you've just taken.

    https://gyazo.com/350fbc56b57ca2b859292443586a2ccf

A sudden outward banked camelback produces some nice laterals, followed by a rapid turn into a fast-paced S-Hill.

    https://gyazo.com/7b58566ba998f03555534de38da5ab38

Back towards the main area of the coaster, a horseshoe turn awaits you, which takes you by surprise as you're flung to a high degree of banking.

    https://gyazo.com/69802baee445e8c3b000cbf64803f53d

A turn gives you a chance to catch your breath before you soar through the third and final inversion - a heartline roll which shoots through the structure, creating an incredible near miss.

    https://gyazo.com/7e853b9b78321850ab48c90928b83405

Out of the heartline roll, another S-Hill throws you out your seat as you fly over other tracks.

    https://gyazo.com/a2bf9218aa7e0c869269e070faea57ea

The train begins to lose its speed as you career through a turn underneath the structure before being thrown into the last element - another outward-banked hill.

A small pop of airtime and you're into the brakes. Enjoy your ride?

And finally, an overview shot of the coaster in its current form.

    Conclusion

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this form of presentation and stay tuned for more updates!

It would be a great addition that is for sure. I love Drayton I just can't see them going for something like this, which is a shame.

Either way, you've got a solid layout!
  2.
OMG I have been waiting for this thread for ages I recon here would be a good spot

^^ Thanks! Yeah, it sucks Drayton doesn't have the target audience to be able to construct something like this.

^ Well, firstly that's tiny, and secondly that would be very, very hard to access.

Realistic for the park or not, that layout is gorgeous! Though I'm not a huge fan of the muted color scheme.

^^^ Thanks! Yeah, the colour scheme I doubt is for keeps but I'm struggling to come up with a better one. I'd appreciate ideas (for both colours and name!)

^^ Yeah haha I thought it might be kinda confusing - my bad! Thank you anyway!

I'd love to give name ideas, but what kind of theme do you plan to have for this?
    • CommentAuthorInkyz
    • CommentTimeMar 1st 2016

^ Well, seeing as Drayton Manor never really themes their rides, I'd say just generic haha

Also, will the track stay green or another color? I'm not someone who throws out any name, I need one that makes sense for the visuals xD

^ Well, right now I'm experimenting with colours (for example, I made it a sort of orange) but I think suggesting a name could determine a colour personally :-)
  3.
sorry to be basic but im sure if you coloured the wood more light (so it looks like outlaw run/wildfire/lightning rod) and make the topper track with a green tint and it would look ok

I'm thinking dragon from what I see as of now:

    Basilisk (SPICY!)
Leviathan (Canada's Wonderland uses it, who cares)
Tatsu? (it's Japanese, only one uses the name)
    Wyvern
    Wyrm

I'll be making more names for different themes, but if you may choose one of these, do some research into the mythology and architecture from supposed time period and location!

This looks really really good so far, but I'd highly recommend taking advantage of TheCodeMasters RMC rails. The video for the tutorial can be found here. It's quite easy to follow along with everything he says, and if you need someone to photoshop the rail texture a different color, I'd be happy to do that for you :)

Basically I think it would look a lot better than the normal in-game wooden track

Firstly, thank you for all the great comments! Really appreciate it!

Secondly, I've now chosen a name and colours!

    Here's the current signage:

    https://gyazo.com/197954a0c904a49c383dc1f00a3cfcba

    Track colour:

    https://gyazo.com/e8a52707261f123f9b8f58b95c682c2f

The ride will feature a slightly basic wild west theme - themed bins, lamps, and objects will be present in the area. Here's the bin I've created specifically.

The ride in its current form (featuring the sign!):

    Pretty, huh?

    Conclusion

Thank you for reading again! Next update will bring the custom rails and more scenery work! Stay tuned!

^^^ Thank you! Means a lot coming from you!
    ^^ Thanks!
^ Okay, I take that back haha, although most of their rides aren't themed extensively
  6.
^I have to agree with you because as they are more an amusement park and not a theme park theming is not much of a priority it also seems like getting a coaster isn't either haha
It is also my home park

It looks great so far! Use TCM rails method, please, it will make the coaster look 100 times more realistic. As a little nitpick, I wold get rid of the rocks on the sides of the sign, as they would block the view when you're not looking straight to it. A bit more variety of sizes would also make it look better. Anyway, it looks promising!

Looks very good:) i like the last pic! Just a tip: dont use the font option in sketchup. They use to much polys/tris. You create better a texture with gimp or photoshop & co. All round shapes with sketchup arent so good for the performance later. If its just a single project you can use it how it is but if you want to use more objects, use the texture.
