I like how more people are showing their RU150 project; curious how it will look like JetCoaster!
    Nighthawk Layout Reveal

Well, here it is folks, the final layout for my Roundup 150 Project. I'm going to spam this page with images, and then I'll leave some commentary down below. (Note the colors are not final, this is just a "leaked" version of the layout (see the Valravn leak lol)

    Designer's Notes:

Nighthawk was primarily inspired by StormRunner, Xcelerator, and Stealth. This coaster was never intended to be a lengthy coaster; it was designed to be a short but high-speed ride that got progressively more intense as the ride went on. Its elements are a blend of many coasters styles, from Expedition GeForce to Nefeskesen, and so are the support styles, but I think as an overall package it works really well.

The climax or high point of Nighthawk is the second to last element, which I like to call... *cue Six Flags announcer voice* the World's First REVERSE Step-Under Flip!!!1!!1!. But seriously though, this ride was inspired by a recent trip to Six Flags Discover Kingdom, when I looked at the Joker's first element and said to myself, what would happen if Intamin had that idea first, and did it backwards? As a fun side note, I stole a little bit of the idea from Fury 325's turnaround, and the element actually looks like an ampersand (&) from certain angles, as seen in the third to last picture at the bottom.

Also, knowing that Kyle Sloane is an appreciator of Intamin's shaping abilities, I figured he'd like the shaping of that transition into the brakerun, which was quite challenging to get right in FVD++.

Anyways, if you got this far in the post, you're awesome. Comments are always appreciated!

That looks so stunning :O This also looks similar to The Spirit of Malbun by Coaster-Lab, and that's definitely not a bad thing! Is the track going to stay that color?

Yeah I think it is staying white.

In any case, I do think it looks pretty cool. It's a bit short, hope you have some crazy scenery planned.

I share the same opinion as Zergei, although I would definitely change the colors if not just to minimize the resemblance.
Don't worry guys, I've already picked out a color scheme, and its's definitely NOT all white. The problem was the actual color scheme didn't look very good against the black background, so for the sake of presentation I changed it to all white.

Don't worry, that's the plan ;) And thanks for the compliments guys!

What a clean presentation, very neat!

Second*. Gerstlauer already did it on Monster! :p

But anyway, I love your layout (both the sequence of elements and the shaping), and that reverse step-up under flip (sideway lateral jangling cowbell roll) is particulary awesome looking! The transition onto the brake is very reminiscent of Intamin indeed, and I think you also nailed the overbank over the station shaping. But I'm no expert here!

World's First REVERSE Step-Under Flip on a Launched Coaster... Fixed

That layout looks very Intamin. Looking forward to see how you theme it!

^ Nice job, Six Flags :3

Decided to do one last teaser before I start with construction updates. Yes, those are the actual track colors, and yes, those are actual lights attached to the front of the train. The "hood" of the train was designed to resemble an F-117 Nighthawk (where this coaster got it's name), and I'm well underway with a full stealth/aviation theme for the coaster, which I will begin to show soon. As always, I'd love to hear your feedback!
love those lights on the front, reminds me a little of the new hulk train design with the straight edges.
    Nighthawk Construction Update

Okay guys, enough with the teasers, on to an actual construction update! ...and it will probably be the only one, but at least you can know that this project definitely isn't dead, and is on track to be completed by RU150 ;)
This is the most complex station I've ever made for a NL project, and I think it's worth it. It was surprisingly tricky to get realistic entrance and exit paths for a double station though.
I tackled the lighting options with this station, and made some pretty decent florescent-style lights. I also figured out the keyframe animation, so yes, those fans do spin.
Nighthawk's ride sign. Simple, but effective I think.
Part of Nighthawk's queue. More lights and ride storage lockers.
Across the way from Nighthawk is Vertigo (pardon the cliche name). It's the default Frisbee ride that's been recolored.
A shot of vertigo and Nighthawk as they are currently.
Speaking of flat rides, substantial progress has been made on Ripcord, my 200ft Intamin drop tower. (thanks to Joshua Velez for the amazing ride!)
But of course, Nighthawk couldn't be all by itself! Behind Vertigo, across from Nighthawk, I've included an Arrow suspended coaster named Ace. And that's all I'll say about it for now ;)

    Final Notes:
At this point, about 95% of the physical modeling is done. I'm going to work this weekend on texturing and adding smaller details, and should be on schedule to start filming early next week, which should give me at least two week to make a video. As always, I'm more than happy to hear your feedback! Let me know if you have an criticisms, suggestions or otherwise!
I know it might be a tad redundant to post this video in it's own thread, but here's my entry for Roundup 150, which ended up taking 6th place! It was an awesome Roundup and the other 9 coasters were amazing! Definitely looking forward to RU200 :)

Very impressed, one of the most well done videos I've seen in a while (with obvious exceptions)

^^ Begged me to ask the question "what video editor do these people fucking use?!" GREAT WORK. I absolutely loved it. Glad I got to preview the ride before she was done too!
    ^^^^I really like this one!
Is the text motion tracking done in Premiere pro aswell, or is it done in After effects?
    • CommentTimeDec 22nd 2016

^I'd actually guess that the text is in-game. I thought it was motion tracking until I realized that as the camera pans away from the "Roundup 150" text, you can see the other titles still in the background. At least the way I'm familiar with doing motion tracked stuff, that would be possible but pretty high-effort/low reward. Could be wrong. JSC?

Still though, one of my favorites of the Roundup, and probably in one go the most fun video and most impressive 'traditional' ride. Really impressive stuff.

Good eye BBSpeed! Yeah, I was actually going to attempt motion tracking the text in Premier, but then one day I just thought, why not just put the text INTO the scene? It wasn't quite as simple as that, though, because I had to mess with the NLMAT settings to make it looks right (no shadow cast, no shadow receive, constant full-white lighting, etc). I've had that idea for the big NIGHTHAWK panning shot for about 3 months way back when I started the project :)

Really glad you guys liked the video!
Big fan of whatever on earth that inverting roll element is called!
Posted By: JetstreamCoasters earlier in this thread*cue Six Flags announcer voice* the World's First REVERSE Step-Under Flip!!!1!!1!..

But yeah... I don't actually have a name for that element. Glad you like it!
